Esther has a few core beliefs that serve as the foundation for her work.
Belief #1: Every single person has the right and ability to sing. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise. It's all a matter of learning how to use the instrument you're born with.
Belief #2: Singing is medicine for the soul. At the end of the day, how you FEEL when you sing matters more than how you sound to somebody else.
Belief #3: If you choose Esther to be your singing teacher, it means you trust her to help you. And trust is very important to her. Therefore, she will do everything that she can in her ability to help you, and create a safe space for you to express yourself vocally.
So how did Esther's musical journey begin?
From the ripe old age of 4, Esther would sing all day long, turning everything into a song. Mummy cooking spaghetti for lunch, it's raining cats and dogs, getting new stationery for school, Esther would sing about all these things. This is how Esther's mother figured she might be destined to sing, hence sending her for piano and vocal lessons.
Fast forward 27 years, Esther is now equipped with an ABRSM Grade 8 certification in Piano, a Trinity Rock & Pop Grade 8 certification in Vocals, and a Diploma in Music and Audio Technology, (thanks Mum).
Over the past 10 years when she was still living in Singapore, her hometown, she was part of a team of music educators that helped run a leading contemporary music school in Singapore, Thunder Rock School. In addition, she also played and toured with several bands, wrote and performed her own music, collaborated with multiple artists across different disciplines, and acted for both TV and theatre.
One day, love came knocking on her door in the form of a handsome European man who said to her, "Come to Europe with me, milady." Being a fool for love, Esther said "OK!" And now she has a cosy home studio in between Museumplein and De Pijp, using her knowledge, music, and performing experience to give singing lessons in Amsterdam!
Esther can teach in English and Mandarin.
